At heart, Best Bet Pizzeria is Chef Jason Neroni’s most personal restaurant yet, a celebration of California-Italian cuisine with a focus on his love of all things pizza. At Best Bet, we work with farmers and small batch wine makers all over Southern California to source the tastiest produce and vino as well as with artisan producers all around Italy to make this a true California-Italian experience with touches inspired by Chef Jason’s work and travels all over the world. Our aim at Best Bet is to be a neighborhood restaurant, a place to gather together around the table and connect over a meal, a place to celebrate life’s milestones or to just sit and savor a heartfelt meal when the pizza craving hits.

About the Space
About
the Space
Located in a former original IHop, the Best Bet team lovingly reinvented the historical A-Frame building with nods to its mid-century roots. Envisioned by Chef Neroni’s wife and Partner, Jennifer Horan, the space evokes a warm nostalgia that welcomes diners to linger over a glass of wine or a plate of pasta. Being a family affair, you’ll find touches of our friends and family throughout the space, including artwork by photographers and longtime friends Pascal Shirley and Evan Sung, tables crafted by Ojai Oaks founder Joshua Mariani from a single century old fallen Oak tree, paintings by Brooks Kossovner, and photography and installation pieces by Chef Neroni.

the Chef
Chef Jason Neroni loves, like really LOVES pizza – any kind, any time, anywhere – so this is his most personal project yet. After a career that began at Disney’s Club 33 and took him around the world to work and learn under notable chefs, including Alain Ducasse, Floyd Cardoz, and Dan Barber, before relocating to New York where he helmed 71 Clinton Fresh Food and 10 Downing Food & Wine. After marrying Jennifer Horan, a writer and arts administrator, on the Brooklyn Bridge, Jason and Jennifer welcomed their first child a few years later and relocated to the sunny shores of LA to raise their growing family. Jason and Jennifer both share a passion for food and hospitality, founding Jaybird Hospitality to help bring their vision of sustainability to the restaurant business. Together, along with their children, family, and friends, they have taken their years of experience cooking, eating, traveling, and hosting and brought it together to share at Best Bet.
